What You’ll Be Doing

Whether you help with homework, coach a game, or teach an art project, you’ll have the opportunity to build healthy relationships with young people eager for adult guidance, and have a positive impact on their lives. In turn, you will find that spending time with these young people has a positive impact on you as well.

Instruct

Identify specific life-skills gaps to conduct group learning sessions to build awareness and abilities in managing emerging adult life, eg:

  • Do’s and Don’ts of the internet
  • Balancing a checkbook
  • Establishing a personal budget, managing credit
  • Building a resume

Enlighten

Share your professional career path and the industry you chose to illuminate options for career choices. Content could include:

  • Industry overview and careers within the industry
  • Skills and education required to enter the industry
  • What it’s like to work in the industry (pros and cons)
  • Suggestions how a child can explore further

Mentor

Use your life experiences to assist and support kids in their making thoughtful decisions, healthy choices, personal development, and awareness of options they may consider.

Tutor

Leverage your academic skills and knowledge to share and tutor a child with a specific educational gap.
